Disability is a major concern of Hayat-e-Nau. It works to improve the quality of life and for the promotion and protection of equal rights of persons with disability. Among them all women and children with disability are more vulnerable so Hayat-e-Nau is giving extra emphasis on these two groups.
Hayat-e-Nau works on right based approach. As an implementing strategy it also adopts centre based and community-based approach. The country like Pakistan where there are very few Govt. and non-Govt. institutions are available for medical rehabilitation and early intervention therefore Hayat-e-Nau is trying to support through its day care centre for early intervention and to provide health & rehabilitation support. Out of this centre Hayat-e-Nau is also working at community level for the prevention, inclusion and empowerment of the persons with disabilities under its CBR program.
Hayat-e-Nau Rehabilitation Centre for Disabled Children
Hayat-e-Nau Rehabilitation Centre has been caring for children and young people with neuro-muscular disorders such as cerebral palsy, Autism, muscular dystrophy, polio and slow learners since 1997.
Currently, 35 children with varying levels of disability are benefiting through the services of our Rehabilitation Centre and CBR program.
Hayat-e-Nau Rehabilitation Centre seeks to create an environment where each child is cherished, loved and encouraged to be their best selves.
This centre remains open five days in a week. Hayat-e-Nau provides all required support to the CWDs for attending the day care centre including transportation, food and assistive devices. Moreover Hayat-e-Nau is providing all necessary training to the mothers of the children for better care of the children at home.
The Disabled Child
Going to school, romping around, playing with other children or making music – this is childhood. But what is normal for some children is often impossible for disabled children. Children with disabilities, living in inner city slums and low-income areas across Hyderabad, in southern Pakistan, face many problems that deprive them of opportunities for personal growth, rehabilitation and education. We seek to reach out to theses children and their families.
The Parents
Monthly parenting days are an integral part of the Center’s activities, giving the parents awareness and an appreciation of the progress that is possible when they reinforce newly learnt life-skills within the family and home environment.

Our Dream
Community Based Rehabilitation is a way in which children and adults with disabilities can be helped and supported within their own home environment and that of their local community. It is implemented through the combined efforts of people with disabilities themselves, their families and communities, and the appropriate health, education, vocational and social services available in the area.
Our dream is, to initiate a CBR Program within local communities in District Hyderabad and to upgrade our Rehabilitation Centre to a CBR Resource Centre providing back up services to CBR workers in the community. This involves raising funds to train people in CBR skills from these targeted local communities and setting up the program.
